At Match Dot Pup, our primary mission is to ensure that you find the best companion for your needs and lifestyle. To achieve this goal, we implement a series of essential steps and practices.
We conduct comprehensive puppy evaluations to understand each puppy’s temperament and personality. This information helps us “match” you with the puppy that best aligns with your lifestyle and preferences.
We offer lifetime breeder support to assist you throughout your puppy’s life journey. Whether you need advice on training, health, or any other aspect of puppy care, we are here to help.
We work closely with you to understand your needs and expectations for a companion. By considering factors such as activity level, living situation, and family dynamics, we strive to find the perfect “match”.
Our private Facebook page fosters a community of puppy owners where you can connect, share experiences, and learn from others.
Our AKC Australian Shepherd puppies come with a two-year health guarantee, assuring you that they are in good health. For the first 30 days, they also have health insurance. This provides peace of mind.
We provide resources and information on raising and caring for your new puppy, helping you adapt to life with your new furry family member.
Our puppies are raised in a loving and social environment, exposed to various experiences and stimuli. Early socialization helps them become well-adjusted, confident, and friendly companions for a lifetime of fun.
We have a deep love for our dogs and puppies, and we extend that love and compassion to our clients. We are dedicated to changing the stigma around breeding by being responsible and caring breeders.
Temperament testing is a crucial process to assess a puppy’s natural temperament, personality, and potential behavior. Breeders and animal behaviorists use this testing to “match” each puppy with the most suitable owner and environment. The evaluation helps identify their unique strengths, weaknesses, and characteristics, which can provide insights into their future behavior. This non-invasive testing is typically done when puppies are 7–12 weeks old, during their key socialization period. By understanding a puppy’s temperament early on, responsible breeders can ensure a successful and harmonious “match” with their forever home.
Our evaluations focus on fourteen traits, categorized into stable and adjustable traits. Stable traits are characteristics that remain consistent throughout a dog’s life and are challenging to change through training or experiences. These traits include Assertiveness (towards humans), Motivation Level, Energy Level, Prey Drive, Human Focus, Herding Drive, Excitability/Reaction to Movement, Tender Heartedness, and Dog Friendliness. These stable traits are best accommodated or managed to ensure the dog’s well-being and a successful “match” with its owner.
On the other hand, we also assess adjustable traits, which can be influenced and developed through proper training and socialization. These traits include Confidence, Nerve Strength/Resiliency, Touch Tolerance, Sound Sensitivity, and Sight Sensitivity. By understanding these adjustable traits, we can help shape and develop a puppy’s behavior to make them well-rounded and confident companions.
Below are some examples illustrating the preferred characteristic behaviors and potential challenges based on the type of home and work environment.
