Gable – Australian Shepherd Service Dog in Training

Selected for his confidence, resilience, and thoughtful temperament, Gable is continuing his journey through our Service Dog in Training program.

Meet Gable

Gable has shown the confidence, resilience, and temperament we’re looking for in a future service dog, which is why he’ll continue his journey in our Service Dog in Training program.

As he grows and matures, we’ll continue observing how he responds to new environments, engages with people, and develops through carefully planned training and real-world experiences.

🐾 Every new experience helps us better understand Gable’s strengths while preparing him for the right future partner.

Development

From early on, Gable has been raised with a focus on real-life experiences.

He’s been introduced to new environments, everyday sounds, and different situations in a way that allows him to build confidence without being overwhelmed.

As he’s growing, we’ll continue to:

  • build engagement and connection
  • encourage calm behavior in different settings
  • support his ability to observe and settle

🐾 This isn’t rushed. It’s something we allow to develop over time.

Training & Foundation

All dogs in our program earn their:

  • Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
  • Urban Canine Good Citizen (UCGC)

This means Gable will be able to:

  • remain calm in public environments
  • walk politely on leash
  • respond to handler direction
  • handle distractions
  • settle appropriately in real-life settings

Gable will not be a fully trained service dog at the time of placement.

🐾 From there, his future handler will continue task-specific training tailored to their individual needs, building on the strong foundation and skills developed through our Service Dog in Training program.

Follow Gable's Journey

Gable is just beginning his Service Dog in Training journey. As he continues to grow and mature, we’ll regularly share updates on his temperament, training milestones, confidence-building experiences, and progress through our program.

Temperament Overview

Spending more time with Kitts has given us a clearer picture of his natural tendencies.

Current observations:

  • Energy: Medium
  • Human Focus: Medium-High
  • Confidence: High
  • Sound Sensitivity: Low

🐾 More than anything, we’ve been able to see how he responds in real-life situations, not just short moments.

What Life May Look Like

Kitts may be a great fit for:

  • someone looking for a calm, responsive companion
  • a home that values connection and consistency
  • individuals needing support through presence and engagement

🐾 The right match depends on both the dog and the person, and we’ll help guide that process.

Public Access Foundation

Because of the time spent in development, Kitts is already comfortable navigating many everyday environments.

He’s had the opportunity to:

  • experience public settings
  • practice calm behavior around distractions
  • stay engaged with his handler

🐾 This foundation makes the transition into continued training more natural and more successful.
