Davis – Service Dog in Training

Selected for her exceptional temperament, Davis is continuing her journey through our Service Dog in Training program.

Meet Davis

Davis has shown the qualities we’re looking for in a future service dog, which is why she’ll continue her journey in our training program.

As she grows and matures, we’ll continue evaluating her temperament, confidence, and ability to adapt to new environments while building on the strong foundation she developed during her first eight weeks.

🐾 Every stage helps us better understand her strengths and prepare her for the right future partner.

Development

From the very beginning, Davis has been raised with a focus on building confidence through positive, age-appropriate experiences.

As she continues in our Service Dog in Training program, she’ll keep developing through carefully planned activities designed to strengthen her confidence, engagement, and adaptability in everyday life.

Along the way, we’ll continue to:

  • build engagement and connection
  • encourage calm behavior in a variety of environments
  • introduce new experiences at a thoughtful pace
  • strengthen her confidence through real-world exposure

🐾 Every step is intentional, allowing Davis to mature naturally while we continue evaluating her long-term service dog potential.

Training & Foundation

All dogs in our program earn their:

  • Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
  • Urban Canine Good Citizen (UCGC)

This means Davis will be able to:

  • remain calm in public environments
  • walk politely on leash
  • respond to handler direction
  • handle distractions
  • settle appropriately in real-life settings

Davis will not be a fully trained service dog at the time of placement.

🐾 From there, the individual continues with task-specific training to meet their specific needs, building on the strong foundation already in place.

Follow Davis' Journey

Davis is just beginning her Service Dog in Training journey. As she continues to grow and develop, we’ll regularly update this page with her temperament, training milestones, and progress.

Temperament Overview

Spending more time with Davis has given us a clearer picture of her natural tendencies.

Current observations:

  • Energy: Medium
  • Human Focus: Medium-High
  • Confidence: High

🐾 More than anything, we’ve been able to see how he responds in real-life situations, not just short moments.

What Life May Look Like

Kitts may be a great fit for:

  • someone looking for a calm, responsive companion
  • a home that values connection and consistency
  • individuals needing support through presence and engagement

🐾 The right match depends on both the dog and the person, and we’ll help guide that process.

Public Access Foundation

Because of the time spent in development, Kitts is already comfortable navigating many everyday environments.

He’s had the opportunity to:

  • experience public settings
  • practice calm behavior around distractions
  • stay engaged with his handler

🐾 This foundation makes the transition into continued training more natural and more successful.
